After graduating from Ringling College of Art & Design in 1977, Debra worked as a fashion illustrator and Graphic Artist. Her career was temporarily put on hold as she raised two children and when they were older she began focusing on fine arts, working in different mediums such as watercolor, colored pencil, scratchboard, pastel, mixed media, graphite, and pen and ink. She has created works of art with subjects in portrait, nature, wildlife, and pets. Her work can be viewed on her website at debrayaun.com.
Debra has authored many instructional art books and art kits for Walter Foster Publishing and her work has appeared in art magazines as well as other instruction books. She has won many awards in local and several international exhibits and has held positions with organizations such as the Colored Pencil Society of America - National and Local board, Georgia Art League, and Portrait Society of Atlanta. Debra has been an art teacher with different organizations over the years and presently teaches at Johns Creek Art Center as well as teaching workshops at other locations.
