Tennessee artist Judy Lavoie creates paintings in a highly representational style, primarily using watercolors, inks, and acrylics. Judy especially loves painting on Aquabord, Claybord, and Scratchbord which beautifully facilitate the intricate detail and rich textures in her work. Judy has a strong sense of design and composition, with a talent for leading the viewer's eye to the focal point. Not content to stick with any one subject, Judy is known for depicting rural scenes, animals, interesting characters, old vehicles, wildflowers, still lifes, and a wide variety of other subjects. Her paintings are rich with colors and values.
She feels there is always more to learn about art and enjoys pushing beyond her comfort zone with new challenges. In over forty years of painting, Judy has earned signature status in several watercolor societies, received numerous top awards for her art, been featured in Splash and AcrylicWorks magazines, and has had work juried into countless shows. One of her colorful award winning watercolor paintings, Eat Chicken, is on permanent display at Erlanger Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga TN. Her scratchboard work has earned her membership into the International Society of Scratchboard Artists.
Judy enjoys sharing her methods, materials, techniques, discoveries, blunders, and inspiration through her popular blog on judylavoieart.com/blog/
