Woodpanel features
Affordable Quality You Can Trust
Woodpanel is designed for studies, classrooms, workshops, and creative projects while still carrying Ampersand’s reputation for dependable surfaces.
Versatile for Crafts and Art
Smooth birch face works well for fluid art, acrylics, collage, wood burning, and décor projects. Also perfect for crafts like string art, seasonal signs, decoupage, and classroom projects.
Smooth by Design
Every Woodpanel is carefully sanded so the surface feels smooth to the touch, with fewer raised fibers than typical birch plywood. That difference matters; a smoother face means better results for painting, pouring, and mixed media projects.
Precision-Cut Cradles, Standard Sizes
Studio birch panels are built with clean, squared-off wood cradles that give a polished look when displayed without a frame. Unlike rounded-edge cradles that rest unevenly, creating gaps instead of a flush fit, Ampersand’s precision-cut design sits evenly while you are creating on it and when it is displayed. Every panel is made to art industry standards and available in 7/8 inch and 1 ½ inch profiles, so they display consistently alongside other professional art panels and fit perfectly in Floaterframes, Duoframes, and other gallery-style frames.
Ready to Customize
Panels can be used directly for crafts, pouring, encaustic, and pyrography. For painting and mixed media, we strongly recommend sealing and priming first. This is the best practice conservators advise for all unprimed wood panels, no matter the brand. Sealing and priming not only improve how the surface accepts paint and other media, but they also help prevent yellowing over time from support-induced discoloration (SID), ensuring artwork lasts.
